A Volunteer Team is a regional CCA branch, run solely by CCA trained volunteers. They are headed by a Team Leader and Treasurer.
The purpose is to increase CCA’s reach into local communities and enhance the quality of services provided to CCA members and all individuals living with or affected by IBD.
The Volunteer Team’s work will help CCA to achieve its mission “to support the Crohn’s and colitis community with a focus on confidential support programs including education, advocacy, counselling, increasing awareness and generating funds for research and support”.
Following a very successful pilot in Victoria (funded by a 2013/2014 Victorian Government Health Conditions Support Grant), CCA is looking forward to rolling out the program nationally. Please contact us if you would like to be involved in setting up a Volunteer Team in your local community,
What is the aim of a Volunteer Team?
To help individuals living with IBD and their families by:
- Encouraging local support and self-help
- Providing information and support
- Increasing awareness of CCA
How do Volunteer Teams achieve these aims?
VT’s are expected to achieve these aims by conducting five core activities every year:
- Conducting local Forums
- Communicating with local members
- Holding local fundraising events
- Awareness raising
- Facilitating monthly support group meetings.
In addition to this, VT’s may also conduct non-core activities such as family or social events.
How do I get involved?
