The ‘Can’t Wait’ card Program is a campaign to improve national recognition of the urgency of Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, and when presented with a ‘Can’t Wait’ card, to allow the bearer of the card to go to the toilet URGENTLY.
Our research has shown it is a very rare occasion that a person with this illness finds themselves in a dire situation to go to the toilet. But the stress of ‘if’ it is going to happen, and ‘if’ they will be allowed to go or find a toilet in time consumes every thought and every action they take.
About the ‘Can’t Wait’ card
The ‘Can’t Wait’ card is issued to members of CCA who have been formally diagnosed with Crohn’s or colitis (IBD) access to a toilet in times of urgency. All cards are registered with CCA, the member’s name and their ID number is printed on the front of the card which the retailer can record and contact CCA if there are questions or concerns.
We request that you recognise the ‘Can’t Wait’ card as an urgent medical situation and give the bearer of the card priority access to the toilet.
Why should my business sign up?
People with Crohn’s and colitis can base many of their decisions, including where they visit, on feeling confident they will have access to toilets if required. This lack in confidence can result in isolation and poor quality of life and lost sale opportunities for retailers.
By registering as an affiliate you will be recognised in the following ways;
- On the Can’t Wait website, as a participating venue with a location finder.
- Your details will be communicated via CCA’s social media sites
- Your logo and details in the ‘Inside Insight’ magazine. A quarterly publication distributed to CCA’s 5000 plus member base.
- A dedicated CCA contact to respond to your queries.
How do I get involved?
There is NO FINANCIAL commitment – just the willingness to support the community in the most basic of human rights. Information packs will be sent out for all your staff.
Register your interest by visiting our website www.cantwait.net.au and filling out the registration form, found on the ‘become an affiliate’ page. All registered organisations will be offered a window sticker to display at their place of business and a communication guide for staff use.
