My name is Danny and, to the outside eye, I look like any normal 28 year old. I have been a police officer for the last eight years. I got married three years ago and now I am the proud Dad of a newborn son. But life hasn’t always been this good.
I started getting sick when I was really young, by the time I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. The Doctors made the information simple for me to understand. But it was still really obvious at school that I was different to everyone else.
As I get older, it gets easier to understand what’s going on, but it still takes constant management. For example in 2013, I ended up in Emergency with an obstructed bowel.
Happily, I’ve been well looked after by my professor, fantastic nurses and my employers, the NSW Police Force. I count myself pretty lucky.
As we all know, my story is not unique. That’s why Crohn’s and Colitis Australia (CCA) are working hard to support people like us and find a cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
CCA does research that could change how the world understands IBD, and has also been actively raising awareness to support those living with IBD, and educate the broader community.
As a member of the IBD community, I urge you to open your heart and donate to CCA to help them continue their good work.
Your gift, no matter how large or small, will truly make a difference. Please remember, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
May you and your loved ones share a warm and wonderful holiday season!
