Join us on an epic journey to Spain

Register for CCA’s El Camino Trek 2018

What is this adventure?

CCA is currently seeking adventurous IBD patients or supporters keen to push their limits and take on the exciting challenge of trekking the El Camino in Spain!

As part of this incredible adventure over 10 days in May 2018, you will discover the many wonders of Spain.

On arrival in Madrid, Spain’s bustling capital city, you will set off on a guided tour, exploring the city’s highlights from past to present. You will then travel beyond city limits to embark on the Camino de Santiago.

From Sarria to Santiago, you will trek under the shade of old oak trees into peaceful hamlets set against the rolling green backdrop of Galicia. At night, you will experience Spain’s colourful culture and cuisine.

On what other adventure can you follow in the footsteps of the Romans, the Knights Templar, pilgrims and modern day adventurers to Santiago de Compostela?

Best of all, with every step you take, with every kilometre you cover, you will raise vital funds to help CCA make life more liveable for people with IBD.

CCA does not receive regular government support, and relies on grants and donations from those who understand the impact that IBD can have on a person’s quality of life.

Who can join?

Your adventure is ranked 3/5 (moderate).

While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, our adventures are specifically designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train. Crohn’s & Colitis El Camino Trek is a physical challenge, and the fitter you are, the more you’ll enjoy the experience.

We recommend that in the months leading up to your trip, you increase your physical fitness with aerobic exercise. Walking, running and cycling will all strengthen your legs and improve stamina.

What is the minimum age/general age range of participants?

The minimum age for this adventure is 18, however younger ages are considered on application. We have had participants aged 16–84 take part in our charity challenges, all united by their sense of philanthropy and adventure.

How do I meet the fundraising target?

Past participants have successfully fundraised in many creative and fun ways. We will send you a comprehensive Fundraising Toolkit upon registration to help you reach your target. You will also have regular support from the Inspired team, who will help you develop and manage your fundraising plan, as well as support from Crohn’s & Colitis Australia.
