Wills & Bequests

Of all the decisions we make in our lifetime, writing your Will is amongst the most important.

Leaving a gift in your will to Crohn’s & Colitis Australia will help us make a positive difference to people with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, their family, friends and carers.

If you would like further information - in the strictest confidence - about making or updating your will, please contact us via email or phone 1800 138 029.

Make A Difference

In our Will we leave not just a legacy of money, property and other assets, but we identify and give expression to our love and friendship for our family and friends. In addition to recognising our family and friends your Will is an acknowledgment of the values that are closest to your heart such as family, church and community and caring for those in need.

After providing for your family and friends you could consider leaving a bequest to Crohn’s & Colitis Australia in your Will.  This gift in your Will helps us make a positive difference to the lives of people with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, their family, friends and carers. It will be used to support our mission to provide information, education and support services to people and their families living with IBD and to fund vital research into treatments and cures.

A bequest to
Crohn’s & Colitis Australia through your Will can take various forms:

  • A specified amount of money, or
  • A share or proportion of the residue of your estate, or
  • A nominated asset such as shares or real estate, or
  • You can also nominate us as an alternative or substitute beneficiary in case any of your major beneficiaries predecease you.

To make a bequest to
Crohn’s & Colitis Australia we suggest the following wording be considered by your legal advisor in your Will:

“I give and bequeath free of all duties the sum of $...........(or portion of estate or description of property ) to Crohn's & Colitis Australia (trading name of Australian Crohn’s and Colitis Association) of Level 1, 462 Burwood Road Hawthorn Victoria 3122 Australia for its general  charitable purposes

OR for the purpose of support services

OR for the purpose of research into the cause, cure or treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my trustee”.

Additional points to consider:

  • Also remember it is most important to regularly review and update your Will to cater for any changes in your family or personal circumstances.
  • We recommend you seek professional advice from a solicitor to ensure your bequest is clearly and legally stated.
