It is well known that CCA does not receive any government funding. We rely completely on membership and fundraising activity to provide support services and raise money for research.

CCA has wonderful members who volunteer to fundraise on a regular basis. We encourage you to run your own event, or participate in an event being held in your state.

Show us your art !
CCA members are invited to put brush to canvas for a fundraising art exhibition. Art from the Heart is a chance for members to tap into their creative side and capture on canvas their journey with IBD.
The three categories include: Juniors – up to 12 years; Teens – 13 to 19 years; and Open – 19 years and over. Members can choose to sell their entries if they wish. All funds raised by the event will go to research and CCA’s youth camp  and research programs.

The exhibition will be held at Cambridge Studio Gallery, 52 Cambridge Street, Collingwood (VIC), from Friday, March 26 to Sunday, March 28.

Art from the Heart
will be launched at a function on the Friday evening. Tickets are available to purchase here for $50.00 (download an invite here). Entry to the exhibition on the Saturday and Sunday is $5.00.

If you're a CCA member and would like to get involved, download an entry form here.  For further information about the event click here.

Golf Day
CCA would like to extend a huge thank you to Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers Milperra & Oatley. The company's Annual Charity Gold Day at Bankstown Golf Club on August 7, 2009, raised an incredible $20,260!

VIC Support Group - Bunnings BBQ
CCA member Kate Eldred facilitates a Support Group in Victoria. In May 2009, Kate’s support group organised a barbeque at the local Bunnings Warehouse to raise funds for CCA support services. Kate and her support group organised all the food that was served, as well as a schedule for the day. Members of the support group volunteered their time to serve hungry shoppers, and from a single day they raised a massive $1,700!

Kieran Joiner - Teachers vs Students Sports Match and Free Dress Day
Kieran Joiner was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease a week after his 15th birthday, in 2004. With the backing of his school, Norwood Secondary College, he elected to spread his studies over two years. Kieran was awarded the school’s prize for chemistry, as well as the 2008 Endeavour Award, announced at the valedictory dinner. The award was for overcoming adversity, and helping the community, exemplified by the fundraising day Kieran organised at his school in October 2008.

Kieran said, “I really wanted to help out because the government doesn’t do much for fundraising, it’s more the people connected to it. I just wanted to make a difference and raise awareness so we can get more research happening.” Kieran coordinated a free dress day, as well as a ‘teachers versus students’ sports match, which raised more than $2,000 for Crohn’s & Colitis Australia!

Mysan Lauren - So You Think You Can Dance... For Colitis?

22-year-old Mysan Lauren was busy raising money to find a cure just one month after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. The Townsville resident organised the “So you think you can dance …For Colitis?” competition in June 2009 at the Bank Niteclub. As well as demonstrations by dance troupes, amateur dancers were invited to perform R’n’B and Hip-Hop routines for prizes donated by local businesses.

As well as raising money, Mysan said she planned the event to raise a greater awareness of the disease. As she had never heard of the disease before her diagnosis, she ignored the symptoms for two years, allowing the disease to spread.

By raising awareness of the disease and its symptoms she hoped to enable others to act early to bring the condition under control. This aim was aided by a prominent feature story in the Townsville Bulletin in the lead up to the dance competition.

“That was amazing,’’ she said. ``I couldn’t believe all the attention it got.” The event raised more than $1800, a total Mysan hopes to improve upon next year by expanding the competition.
