In 2010, CCA is committed to increasing research allocations and expanding on our wide range of services but we can’t do this on our own. We need your donation to help us continue our work. As a supporter your donations help to provide research grants, raise awareness, offer support groups, supply a helpline, present information forums, deliver youth programs and much, much more. Please donate today and continue to help CCA make life more liveable for the 61,000 Australians living with IBD, and their families.
For more than 24 years, CCA has been making life more liveable for more than 61,000 Australian men, women and children living with these chronic illnesses. Crohn's and colitis can be diagnosed at any age, though it is most commonly diagnosed in people aged between 15-35 years when education, career and family building are at a peak.
While we invest in research and wait for a cure for inflammatory bowel disease, CCA will continue to advocate for world best treatments and health services for those living with Crohn's and colitis. Through our programs we offer education and support for Australia's growing Crohn's and colitis community. Importantly, our services are offered free of charge. As we receive no funding from government sources, we rely on the generosity of volunteers, donors and community fundraising to continue our work.
Your support willgo a long way in helping us to fund vital research into treatments and cures.
One Million Ways to Find a Cure
Members will have received a letter from CCA in December announcing our exciting goal for 2009 - to raise $1 million to establish a sustainable research funding program to help find a cure for IBD.
As CCA chief executive Francesca Manglaviti said in the letter: "We have never set such a target before. However, investing in research is expensive, and there is simply not enough money currently being allocated to research. It is only through bold and determined action that we are going to achieve real outcomes for those living with IBD, and this is why we desperately need your help."
Thank you to all those people who have donated to our $1 million research appeal. Your generous contributions have so far pushed our total to $91,855. Already this has enabled CCA to establish the two-year $150,000 Angela McAvoy AM Fellowship. CCA hopes to offer the fellowship on an annual basis. But to do this, CCA requires ongoing financial assistance from members.
Remember, just $200 from every member (individual donation or combined from family and friends) would enable us achieve our $1 million target, and take us closer to finding better treatments, and hopefully, a cure. Of course, any amount is always greatly appreciated, and we again thank everyone for their valued contributions.

In Memory Donations
While the loss of a loved one is a sad occasion, it is also an opportunity to give hope to the thousands of Australians who are living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
An In Memoriam gift to Crohn's & Colitis Australia will serve as a lasting tribute to the memory of your loved one.
Families can request that memorial gifts be made in lieu of flowers. A letter will be sent to the Next of Kin, advising of the donations made, and the total received.
Memoriam envelopes can be promptly delivered to the Funeral Director by ringing 1800 138 029.
Gifts to Crohn's & Colitis Australia over $2 are fully tax deductible. Everyone who makes a memorial gift is sent a receipt, which can be used for tax purposes.
Every donor will be sent a receipt for tax purposes. Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for processing. Please indicate whether you would like your donation to be either GENERAL or RESEARCH
