Inside Insight magazine goes online

THE upgrade of CCA’s website has enabled us to expand its capabilities to include viewing the Inside Insight member magazine online. We believe this new service will be welcomed by our members, many of whom have expressed a preference for receiving their magazine in an electronic format.

In providing this service, CCA is following in the footsteps of many organizations, including our international counterparts. The option of accessing the magazines online has many benefits. Not surprisingly, the biggest benefit is the major cost savings in printing and postage. CCA is committed to using your membership fees as wisely and economically as possible, and believes the savings made in these areas can be redirected to support our other programs, including state symposiums and forums, research grants, and our popular camps for teens.

Other benefits include:
  • Reduced consumption and disposal of paper products helps the environment;
  • Online access overcomes privacy issues, as some members do not wish to disclose their illness to people with whom they share a mailing address;
  • Members can choose which items are of particular interest to them; and
  • Electronic copies don’t take up valuable storage space and can’t be misplaced! As well as the current issue, previous magazines will also be available online for easy access to past articles.

Those of you who prefer to receive the magazine as a hard copy are welcome to do so, and can contact us to us know, or fill in the response form online and return it to CCA. Members who wish to take up the option of receiving the magazine in an electronic format will need to provide us with a current email address, as CCA will send an alert when the magazine is available to download. Updating your contact details enables us to provide you with timely communications regarding upcoming events, fundraising activities, competitions and surveys.

Joining Forces

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new members who have joined us through the formal merger of CCA and ACCAQ. The merger allows CCA to present a strong, unified position as the nation's peak IBD organisation, as well as streamlining operations for members.

The Queensland office will be retained and Anita Reilly will assume the role of State Coordinator, as well as continuing to volunteer to man the helpline. Anita has also been appointed a director of the CCA board.

CCA chief executive Francesca Manglaviti said the merger was an important step in taking CCA to a fully national level, providing support services and advocacy on behalf of members. "I am pleased CCA and ACCAQ have joined forces and I look forward to working closely with Anita," Ms Manglaviti said. "We are confident the merger will allow for a greater consistency in communications and the provision of quality programs around the country."

New Can't Wait Card Available to ALL CCA Members

ALL members are currently being issued with our new look Can't Wait Card to be used when requesting urgent access to toilet facilities. The Can't Wait card is available exclusively to Crohn's & Colitis Australia (CCA) members. The card identifies a person as a member of CCA and explains that the card-holder needs access to toilet facilities urgently, due to their medical condition.

We encourage members to present their card at supermarkets, service stations, retailers and cafes and ask that it be recognised. Please report any difficulties using the card to the CCA office on 1800 138 029.
